Howe Elementary Students placed first in the regional Battle of the Books competition on Friday, March 28. These students will go on to compete in the district finals at the Des Moines Public Library on April 18th. We are very proud of these students and their dedication to reading in and out of school. The team is coached by Linda Wilson and Jeni Kramer. Good luck Howe students! Howe team members are: Sebastian Tabb, Madison Durbin, Kase Murphy, Jenna Young, Nico Rocha-Hesser.

It’s been more than 25 years since DMPS made comprehensive changes to elementary school attendance areas. A lot changes in a quarter of a century, and to better serve students and meet the needs of schools the district has adopted new attendance areas for many elementary schools. As a Title I school, our students may qualify for tutoring services at no cost to their family. To be eligible, students must also be approved for free/reduced-price lunch, and not have received tutoring services during the first semester of this school year.
